How to prepare for surgery
One of the treatment options for cancer is surgery. Here are three ways that you and your loved ones can prepare for surgery.
- Feel free to bring any items with you to the hospital that help make you feel comfortable. This may include a blanket, pajamas, a favorite mug, slippers, a cell phone or a tablet as well as any religious items.
- Prepare for being away from home. Manage your mail by visiting the Post Office website and temporarily changing your address to a family member’s or a friend’s so that they can accept your mail while you are gone. Alternatively, you can put a temporary hold on your mail service until you or a loved one is able to pick it up.
- Write down key information, including contacts lists, current medications, doctors’ offices and phone numbers, appointments, and any allergies that you may have.
