Cesar Augusto Perez, MD
Director of Drug Development, Sarah Cannon Research Institute at Florida Cancer Specialists – Lake Nona
Dr. Cesar Augusto Perez serves as the director of drug development for Sarah Cannon Research Institute at Florida Cancer Specialists at the Lake Nona drug development unit (DDU). In his role, Dr. Perez leads phase 1 clinical trials at the DDU in Lake Nona, Fla., which opened in summer of 2021.
Dr. Perez most recently served as an associate professor of medicine at the University of Miami where he also was one of the leaders for phase 1 oncology clinical research as well as the head and neck group. He was previously an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Louisville, where he received the Best Faculty Teacher Award in 2015 and 2017.
Dr. Perez earned his medical degree from the University of Panama School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida and his fellowship in oncology-hematology at the University of Miami, where he received the Peter A. Cassileth, MD Award as an outstanding fellow and served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Perez is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine.
